What Is the Difference Between 2018 and 2019 Subaru Outback?

That's a question Dallas-area drivers ask us frequently. The short answer? Everyone's favorite rugged wagon-become-modern crossover SUV now gets EyeSight® driver-assist tech standard down the line for 2019. That means it's easier than ever to maintain safe distances, remain in-lane and on course, and even avoid accidents. Of course, that's in addition to safety perks like LED steering responsive headlights and optional blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert. Further, base models offer both an audio system upgrade, now incorporating SiriusXM support, as well as a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster revised for the model year. However, these innovations aren't all the new Subaru Outback has in store.

For one, the same celebrated engine appears, standard in base trims -- a 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine. Higher trims feature a workhorse 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine capable of 256 horsepower. Each comes paired with a Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission. The results? Both ease of use and exceptional fuel efficiency.

Secondly, a host of performance technologies come standard to keep 2019 Outback the terrain commander Subaru lovers have come to know and love. They range from Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, our automaker's proactive permanent AWD system, to a wheel slip-reducing X-MODE®, Hill Descent Control, and Active Torque Vectoring for sharp cornering. Factor in 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and it's easy to steer clear of obstacles on or off the trail.

Further, the new Outback can haul just about anything. Collapse its rear seating, and you can take advantage of up to 73.3 cubic feet of cargo space, while a 2,700-pound tow rating simplifies shouldering anything from a small pop-up camping tent to a couple of dirt bikes or an ATV. Plus, there's extra room for your payload atop standard roof rails with integrated crossbars, which feature tie-downs and the latter of which can retract when not in use.

Finally, the SUV's as accommodating as ever, with optional leather-trimmed seats, which are available heated up front and in the rear, optional dual-zone auto climate control, and SUBARU STARLINK&#trade; Multimedia infotainment to keep you in control and connected, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration. Bring available navigation into the mix, along with an optional 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, and not only is it easy to get directions to nearby locales like Mesquite or Rockwall, but you can also make a soundtrack of your road mix on the way to out to Rowlett and beyond.

There's even more to love about the new 2019 Subaru Outback, and you can experience it all right here at Randall Noe Subaru in Terrell, TX. Our 1608 West Moore Ave showroom's right around the corner -- stop by and visit us for a test drive today!
